Learning about counting macros has been a complete game changer for me. I have learned so much food knowledge in the short 5 months I have been with Krista. After my first child, I struggled losing the weight. It took me 15 months of trying different fad diets but I did end up losing all my weight (didn’t count macros at this point). Downfall to that, I lost all of my muscle, too. As soon as I got pregnant with my second, I fell back into the same eating routines as I always did after I just completed a fad diet (don’t we all end up throwing in the towel and saying “this diet is for the birds”).
I have always been a “big guy” and have used my size to my advantage in sports like powerlifting and strongman competitions. While I was strong, I knew that my health could be better and I wanted to have that athletic look and feel that we see in most muscle and fitness magazines. So last year at our Crossfit box, I noticed how Coach Krista was transforming her physique and performing better during our WODs (workout of the day). I looked into what she was doing and that is when I found out about tracking your macros as an everyday eating plan.
For years I have been told that my body is carb sensitive and I had to limit my carbohydrates in order to lose weight, yet I could never get off the last 15 pounds that I wanted to lose. Nothing worked, until Krista Moreland and Macros came into my life. Krista has been a tremendous support system throughout this journey and she has walked me through every step of the way. I am eating more than have in years and there is a tremendous freedom in knowing that food is not my enemy, it is my energy!
I kept seeing all these super cool, fit, Cross-Fitting, muscle laden girls talking about how they are fitting their food into their macros. “It’s 18P/12C/2F! Woohoo!” Um, what? Not only did I not understand that, but I was waaaaaay too intimidated by their fitness prowess to even think about asking a question. But I kept seeing their amazing results and their delicious food they were eating! Enter Krista. Now, don’t get me wrong. That girl’s got some fitness prowess. But she explained macros to me in a way that A) made it seem very workable for me in my life, and B) didn’t make me feel like a giant fat goon. Both very important.
